yes! as a fellow melbun speaker, the celery cap has always confused me in football. Many years ago, working on Daydream Island, someone identified my accent as being west country Victorian. These days it's just a terrible mix of queensland slang and eastern melbourne schooling.
I've never thought about the 'celery cap' before but you're right, that is how it's said 😂 I used to be asked when I was a teen/20-something in Vic, whether I was from South Australia. Something about sounding a little English apparently. Funny how people from outside our environment are better able to pick out accents than we are.
